Course Description:
Are you interested in becoming a better musician? Improving your soloing? Becoming musically more “literate”? If you answered ‘yes’, this course is for you!
A working knowledge of the fundamentals of music will help you improve your overall musicianship in any situation.
You will learn how to:
– Master common chord progressions utilized in popular music and jazz
– Expand on your notating ability and learn how to write professional charts
– Learn how to sight-transpose and play music in multiple keys.
– Expand on your chord and harmonic understanding and apply it to songs you know and will study in the course.
– Become better at soloing by mastering your chord scale relationships.
– Improve your rhythm, time, and comping in a variety of musical styles

Requirements:
Should be at an intermediate level of proficiency at your chosen instrument. Working knowledge of the keyboard is recommended. Class size is limited to 6 people and spots are filled when prepayment is received in full. Payment details are below.
Instructor: Daniel Ramjattan
Daniel Ramjattan’s Bio
Daniel Ramjattan started performing on the guitar at ten years old in Stratford, Ontario. After studying with Dave Santandrea for several years, he began studies with Wilma Van Berkel. Since then, his playing has become increasingly distinguished in Canada. Most recently, Daniel placed second in the 2016 FCMF National Music Competition, held in Edmonton, Alberta. In the past, he received the second place prize in the National level of the Canadian Music Competition and First Prize in the Concours de Guitare Outaouais-Gatineau.
Daniel holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Music Degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Ottawa. He also studied with world-renowned pedagogue Bruce Holzman in Tallahassee, Florida for a semester in Fall 2014. Daniel will be pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Toronto with Dr. Jeffrey McFadden in Fall 2017.
