The Toronto Guitar School (TGS) and Mint Music were thrilled to host for the first time in Toronto: Tim Donahue, acclaimed musician and inventor of the Tim Donahue Electric Harp Guitar, for an exciting one day workshop and concert. The Toronto Guitar School is an award winning performance based music program taking students from lessons to the stage through private lessons, group classes, workshops, bands and showcases run by industry professionals.

Tim enjoyed his first event in Toronto. The events started off with Tim in conversation with Glen Alan, Founder of the TGS and Mint Music, sharing stories and insights from Tim’s year of playing with musical legends such as Paul Rogers, Eddie Kramer, and Kelly Hansen. Tim also discussed his unique playing techniques and how the development of the electric Harp Guitar impacted his music career. Tim also discussed jazz/rock composition and seeing music in color (synaesthesia).

Tim has worked in a wide range of musical genres including otherworldly ambient music, orchestral film scores, instrumental jazz/fusion, and hard rock. He has also worked with some of the industry’s most talented and recognized vocalists such as Paul Rodgers (Free and Bad Company), Kelly Hansen (Foreigner), and James LaBrie (Dream Theater). Tim teamed up with legendary producer/engineer Eddie Kramer (of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and KISS fame) to produce his heavy rock album Voices in the Wind. In addition, Tim has released over 10 albums and is part of the compilation albums Guitars for Freedom Vol. 2 (with Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page & Steve Lukather), and Fretless Guitar Masters, a unique compilation of fretless guitarists from around the world.

The workshop took place on Sunday October 27th 2019 at 2:30pm to 4pm and was followed by a performance at 7:30pm to 9pm.

It was free for members of TGS/Mint Music / only $10 in advance or $15 at the door for one or both.

Toronto Guitar School is planning more events like this for the future. Stay tuned!
