This course is designed for individuals of all ages with an interest in learning classical guitar that have been playing the guitar for a year or more and understand how to read tab and can play their basic guitar chords. This class provides guitarists with an opportunity to work with an experienced classical instructor and develop their classical technique through interesting repertoire in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Regular class performances and paying particular attention to dynamics and expressive potential of the guitar as a solo instrument will be an important feature of the course, which will gradually adopt a masterclass-style. Students will also have the opportunity to play in duos and quartets throughout the course.
The course will vary greatly depending on the level of the students in the course. The first class, which will act as a prerequisite to the regular 8-week course, will consist of an assessment. The development of the lesson plan will take place after the first class, once the level of the participants has been established.
Materials required:
-Nylon-string Classical Guitar
-Footstool, ErgoPlay, or similar device for holding the instrument (not a strap)
-Folder/binder for holding handouts
-Tuner
-Metronome (can be an app)
