This “Introduction To Mixing” Course is aimed at both aspiring hobbyists and professionals. Modern technology has made it possible to compose, record, and mix music in almost any environment at an affordable price. Although developments in new technology have levelled the playing field, allowing many to record and mix the recordings or their own and others, the art of a great mix is still something that eludes many. A great mix cannot be achieved simply by having the right equipment and gear. Like a formula one race car driver you need the experience and training to deliver exceptional results and sort through the myriad of tools now at one’s disposal.

Throughout this course Greg Kolchinsky will share his many years of recording studio experience and insight to enlighten participants in the philosophy and technical choices that make for a great mix. The course is based on the understanding that, while being provided with great tools to foster their creativity, aspiring engineers may lack certain technical and psychological basics in their approach. The course aims to fill these gaps and help everyone achieve a better mix while building upon their previous experience. Participants will also have the opportunity to have their mixes critiqued and reviewed by the class and Greg on a couple of occasions during the course.

Mixing Fundamentals will focus mainly on decisions that will set the stage for enjoyable and successful mixing experience. It will help artists and aspiring mix engineers to better direct their creative energy, while dealing with fewer distractions and setbacks.
