Chris SaletaGuitar Setup and Repair Technician

Chris Saleta, a skilled luthier and guitar repair expert, has been immersed in the world of stringed musical instruments for over four decades. Born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1965, Chris developed a fascination with the mechanics of guitars at the age of 16. After purchasing his first instrument, he eagerly disassembled it to understand how it worked—a decision that led to an “Aha!” moment and set the course for his career.

Driven by his curiosity, Chris spent the following years studying the history, construction, and repair techniques of stringed instruments. His passion for the craft led him to work as a repair technician at Steve’s Music Store in Toronto in the mid-1990s, where he helped establish the shop’s renowned repair department, earning accolades such as the Reader’s Choice Award for Best Repair Shop in Toronto.

Chris went on to hone his skills under the mentorship of Master Luthier Philip Davis while pursuing formal education in Stringed Musical Instrument Construction at the Ontario College of Art and Design. His expertise extends beyond traditional guitar repair; he is certified in both electric and acoustic guitar repair by several leading manufacturers and has extensive experience working with a diverse range of instruments, from ethnic instruments across the globe to high-end custom builds.

Over the years, Chris has worked in various locations, from Ontario to British Columbia, Central America, the Caribbean, and even the Arctic, always focused on delivering top-tier repairs and craftsmanship. With over 40 years of hands-on experience in design, construction, repair, modifications, and finishing, Chris Saleta is widely respected in the industry for his exceptional skill, attention to detail, and deep knowledge of stringed instruments.
