Requirements: Semi-professional players familiar with reading tab and chord charts. Maximum 3 guitarists per ensemble who are comfortable in playing both the electric and acoustic guitar. Every ensemble already has a keyboard player, bassist, drummer and vocalist.
This course is designed to put strong semi-professional players together to create music, and to teach students how to effectively get a band up and running quickly. If you’ve been stuck in the “we’ll book a gig when we’re ready” mantra or have been searching for other players to form a group with for months or even years, then this course is for you!
This class is all about putting the pieces together. Students who are fluent on their instruments are invited to be a part of a teacher-led ensemble. Instruments include guitar (acoustic or electric), bass, drums, piano and vocals.
Through a combination of repertoire chosen by the ensemble members and suggested material from Toronto Guitar School Instructors Glen Alan and Jesse Boxer-Meyrowitz, the band will rehearse become gig ready in just 10 classes (yes a real performance!). Each class will focus on playing through the repertoire, tightening up weak sections, and leaving the class with tips on effective rehearsing and musical communication.
